A Comparative Assessment of Household Flood Disaster Preparedness in Floodprone Rural and Urban Communities in Kaduna State, Nigeria

Background: Households are important elements in food disaster preparedness and play role its management. This study compared household food-prone rural urban communities Kaduna State.
 Methods: The comparative cross-sectional was conducted among households foodprone 2019. population were heads. sample size for the 202 each communities. Respondents selected by multi- stage sampling technique. A structured questionnaire used data collection. Community members, community leaders staff of State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) also purposively focus group discussions key informant interviews. quantitative analyzed using SPSS 23.0 qualitative content analysis.
 Results: mean ages (+SD) heads 39.4±12.9 years 43.7±13.9 years, respectively. Ten (2.5%) very prepared against foods but none most available radio 150 (74.3%), flashlight 139 (68.8%) while house insurance non-existent. For communities, availability non-perishable 147 (72.8%), evacuation destination (72.8%) least 2 (1.0%).
